For beginners I recommend this starter kit. I love my cake decorating box it comes out weekend I start a cake and everything goes back in when I'm done. Most new cake decorators learn pretty quickly that the coloring you use makes a huge difference in taste and depth of color. Americolor seems to win the cake (no pun intended) in the cake decorating world.https://amzn.to/3QtLujj

This is a good starter set.

For deep reds and blacks even the best coloring is tough to get the color needed. Cake decorators often recommend an immersion blender.https://amzn.to/40v74c0

This one is cheaper the the whole bottles of dye you would use otherwise.
